FAQ's
- When did Sweet Treat Cosmetics first open?
Sweet Treat Cosmetics first opened in June of 2011! It started out with a few small, local craft fairs and a Facebook page with a handful of fans, and it quickly expanded into something larger than I ever imagined!
- Why did you decide to start Sweet Treat Cosmetics?
I first began to research how to make cosmetics after a company I had been purchasing my own makeup from was revealed to have been putting unsafe ingredients into their eye shadows for better color. A few people were actually injured by this recklessness. I began to do a lot of research and decided that it was something I wanted to try for myself--even if nothing came from it. I vowed from the start to make my cosmetics completely safe, and to make sure that everyone knew what was being used in them. I also try to make them as hypo-allergenic as possible, as I and a large amount of my friends have allergies or are sensitive to many ingredients found in mainstream cosmetics.
- How did you come up with the name and theme of your company?
The theme for me was a given! I have always had a huge sweet tooth, and have a serious love for baking and sewing. I make all my own clothes, and most of them have prints with cupcakes, and fruits and candies on them. My sweet obsession has even earned me the nickname "Cupcake" among my friends. I knew from the start that I would have a sweets theme for my company. I had a few ideas for names, including "Cupcake Cosmetics", "Tea Time Cosmetics", etc. I put it to a vote among a few of my closest friends and it was almost unanimous that everyone liked "Sweet Treat Cosmetics" the best.
- What is your TAT (turn around time) for shipping orders?
My orders ship out within 2 business days of being ordered! I keep stock on all my items, so I am able to ship out quickly. If I am out of stock on an item, it will not be available for purchase until I have restocked on it. That helps to keep orders from backing up! International orders may take up to 4 business days to ship out, as they must be shipped directly through a post office, and I work during post office hours.
- I keep seeing these images on your listings:
. What do they mean?
This symbol means that the item listed is Vegan. That means that there are no animal byproducts used in that item--such as Carmine, which is a colorant used to create most reds and pinks. This symbol means that the item listed is not lip safe--meaning it is not approved by the FDA for use on the lips. Many blues and greens are not lip safe because of the colorant Ferric Ferrocyanide. Other colors may contain Ultramarines in them. Both of these ingredients can be harmful if ingested in large amounts. There are not enough of either ingredient in any of my products to make you sick--however, I will continue to list these as Not Lip Safe, as I am required by the FDA. to do so. You can find out more about both of these ingredients in my Ingredients section! |
